Forgive my stupidity ( I have seen "Ramps" ) but what are Ramps for?
And that idea is awesome..
Not a stupid question (hope this is the right answer). If you use your fingers they even out the distance between the strings and the body/pickups so if you are playing over the pickup and move your fingers over the body... your fingers will not have to adjust to the extra distance between the string/body.
I was all for the Wenge veneer idea.. But a ramp would be a simple, elegant, and very useful solution.. I say ramp, or just center the pickup in the cavity. Those would be the easiest options.
