Need Power AMP advice!!

I used to travel with a group in college that ran EAW tops and we tried a few different amps on them. We tried a Carvin DCM4000 and it was alright. The QSCs are good but ones in the wattage range you are talking about are over $1k each. The best sounding amp we put on them was a Crown MicroTech, which they don't make anymore. Keep in mind this was 10 years ago, as well. They are a bit pricy, but I would look into the Crown XTi 4000. It has onboard DSP and runs at 650w per side at 8ohms. They are around $750.

Going mono or stereo? An RMX 2450 run into two daisy chained enclosures (resulting 4 ohm load) will provide ~2400 watts or 1200 watts / enclosure. That's mono, of course, and may be more than adequate for your needs. I've just reconfigured our rig using two RMX 1450's (800 watts per each 8 ohm enclosure), one for each side. Think I paid $200 apiece for them.

What model EAW's?

Sometimes recommendations (especially from sales/marketing folks) are not quite what they seem. The more you know about a particular speaker and the more you know about failure modes, the better the advice might be.

I second this...the 1450's are beasts, but reliable and good sounding, and cheap to boot! Get a rack with some wheels if you can though, they're not super fun to lug around.
