Need Slap Experts

I'm a bass player of about two years self taught by tabs and jamming, who wants to learn slap BADLY. The only song I know well is "Jungle Man" by the RHCP. The main reason I'm intimidated by slap are the mutes and I'm mainly looking for advice with mutes and tabs in increasing slap-difficulty. Like I don't want want u guyz to go "CLASSICAL THUMP LULZ". put like 5 really easy slap lines then work your way up to say intermediate. thx

rage against the machine - take the power back
korn - ball tongue (for speed, no popping though)
faith no more - crack hitler

there's a couple, i'm pretty sure i started out with the album frizzle fry by primus. so move to that after you learn these.

what about the whole not feeling the mute thing does that just kind of fall into place?

Speaking for only myself, the muting is a "feel" that is best developed by doing it, over and over. Surround yourself with slap bass oriented music, the more variety the better. Any discussion of slap bass should ideally begin with artists like Larry Graham and Louis Johnson, who were pioneers in the technique. So go to the source, you can find video material from these guys on Youtube. Keep at it and you'll get there, the key is to persist.
