Need some advice

I'm in a pickle here, and in a decision to buy either an amp or a bass. My current setup is only a Modded Squier Aff P bass with a Fender Rumble 15.

I have enough money for a used Ampeg ba112 for $150, or i can save up for a used ATK for like $250-$300. Anyway, it's quite a bargain for the Ampeg, but idk how much of a better tone i'd get out of a better amp, is it a great enough difference to use a Modded Squier with an ampeg or an ATK that costs more with a Rumble 15?

If you're thinking about joining a band anytime soon, I'd go with the amp. The Ampeg'll definitely let you be heard better than the Rumble

Look at it this way, if you talk to enough folks here on TB, you'll find WAY more people who gig an Affinity than a Rumble 15!

get the amp. a squire will serve you fine, even if it isn't the best. if you have a crappy amp, you can't play with others.

in fact, i would save up a bit, but instead of the atk, get an even bigger amp. At least 60W, or 100W would be better. 400W would be even better, but it's probably a bit out of this price range. but 100W will at least get you heard at practice (unless you're in a stupidly loud band)

A mediocre bass through a good amp will sound better than a good bass through a mediocre amp. You're basically asking which would sound better: an Affinity through an Ampeg or an ATK through a Rumble and I'd have to say the former. I wouldn't bother with a Rumble to begin with, actually.

Nothing against an ATK, mind you, but I'd get the Ampeg.
