I am approaching 50 and just took up bass guitar about 2 years ago to support my wife learning guitar. Just for convenience I play an acoustic bass although I am starting to see that as a bit of a mistake. Anyway, I need some help from the community and want to reach out for assistance.
The problem:

OK, I don't really know the solution I am looking for (so am open to suggestions) but I think I need something like a ?mixer board? (not sure if that is the right term) then a speaker or set of speakers to output to, something that is a bit akin to how a tv set sounds, or perhaps a mixer board can be configured to make the bass sound a little less,,,, well bassy <-- if that is a word.
What I would like is for some sort of box where I can plug in my computer/phone/ipad (so I think the 3.5 mm plug), then also be able to plug in my guitar and ideally my wife's guitar as well. so two 6.3mm plugs if I have it right. My hope is this magic box or mixer box can then adjust the volumes of the guitars and YouTube input and play to some nice speakers that sound ok but won't blast away too much so that I would end up with complaints.
I don't mind spending a little bit. I mean the less the better but I would be agreeable to drop 500 bucks for a nice setup. I googled mixer boards but they were crazy complex with like 80 buttons etc.

I would really appreciate it if someone could just take the time to help me out and perhaps suggest what I need. Doesn't have to be exact products, just let me know what I should be googling for to sort this out. Again, apologies for being an absolute noob but I have to say, taking up bass (even if at 48) is one of the smartest decisions of my life. I really love the instrument but just now want to work out a decent practice room for myself.

- The acoustic bass is just too dam quite, but I live in an apartment building like complex (very close neighbors).
- I purchased a 'practice amp' for 75 bucks, which I think is 15 watt but it is too dam loud for my needs and living conditions. (and has some other problems which I will explain). I think it is 15 watt, I really don't know how to tell. Sorry absolute noob here and have just decided to say f**k it and ask for help
- The amp has a headphone socket that I think is 3.5mm. I also purchased a 5 meter rather cheap cable so that I can play my guitar to my headphones instead of the amp blasting away my neighbors but when I use this I hear a lot of static, I think this is probably the cheap 5 meter cable I purchased as the headphones are really good quality.
- In general I learn songs then play the youtube song on my phone or ipad. There is a line in on the amp so I get a sort of combined bass guitar, youtube song and static noise through my headphones. it really isn't working out for me.
