Need some help with dating a fender jazz

Serial number v123376, i honestly am trying to figure out what era this jazz was made in if its a modern day AV reissue or what, its black , tort and rose wood and headstock looks like this.

Looks like a later reissue serial number. You need to look at the pickup codes, pot codes, and neck date for accuracy on Fender vintage reissues, though.

ok thanks! basically i can grab it for 700$ but i doubt the guy is going to let me tear it down to look at stuff, i will try to get better pics

You can check the neck date on the American Vintage reissues. The V+6 digits doesn't really narrow it down a lot. Once you check the date on the end of the neck, you'll need to verify with pot codes, etc as mentioned above.

If he doesn't know what he's selling (year, model, etc), how can he possibly assume that he has it priced correctly ?

You NEED to at least look at the date on the end of the neck. Fenders are too easy to "fake".

If he doesn't let you inspect the bass, then I say "walk away". There will be other basses...ones you can "verify".

Good advice and your right i am a little sketched and the pics are pretty grainy I would also have to do a 2 hour round trip to buy it, i would rather find something on here i can verify, thanks guys
