Need some help with dating a fender jazz

You can check the neck date on the American Vintage reissues. The V+6 digits doesn't really narrow it down a lot. Once you check the date on the end of the neck, you'll need to verify with pot codes, etc as mentioned above.
 
ok thanks! basically i can grab it for 700$ but i doubt the guy is going to let me tear it down to look at stuff, i will try to get better pics


If he doesn't know what he's selling (year, model, etc), how can he possibly assume that he has it priced correctly ?

You NEED to at least look at the date on the end of the neck. Fenders are too easy to "fake".

If he doesn't let you inspect the bass, then I say "walk away". There will be other basses...ones you can "verify".

Good advice and your right i am a little sketched and the pics are pretty grainy I would also have to do a 2 hour round trip to buy it, i would rather find something on here i can verify, thanks guys
