I've been playing the electric bass (fretted and fretless) for about 4 or 5 years now. I'm changing majors at school from music, but wish to remain involved in the music department. I have no desire to pursue the euphonium now that I'm changing my major, so at the reccomendation of my professor, I'm picking up the upright.
After messing around on the beast for a few days, I've got my intonation down pretty well (transferring my ear from fretless electric) and am generally doing well teaching myself with a few method books, etc.
I can't afford to just run out and buy a bass right now, so I've gotta choose between the school's two loners: two basses of unknown brand. One is a full-size and the other is a 3/4 scale. What's the "standard", and what would you recommend? I'm about 6'2" with an athletic build and longer arms, if that means anything.
Also, any other advice you could hit me with for the changeover would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
