need to find a new bass!

two basses i am currently looking at to work side by side with my Ibanez Soundgear SRX 390...
WARWICK ROCKBASS CORVETTE BASIC i found used for $349.99.....or any style Fender Jazz Bass under $500.....:help:

ive read many reviews about each, but it seems that the Warwick is the most "versatile." anytime i search jazz bass, its always a battle between J and P basses....

i had my mind set on a fender jazz bass....but after finding numerous threads going back and forth about the different models, replacing pups, elecs, etc., i find myself looking into the warwicks....i think tonally it would compliment my Ibanez...or vice verse us.....

what are YOUR opinions? ill be at the guitar shop tomorrow!:hiding:

Going to a music store doesn't mean you need to buy something :)
Just try few basses, than say you'll think about it ;)

I am Fender jazz guy and I've never played any cheap Warwicks (I only played 2 from custom shop) so I don't know how they sound. If I were you, I would go for used jazz bass. You can get a USA Fender j for under 500 bucks :D

Also for J vs P. You need to try that by yourself (do it in that music store). P has more bass sound (like heavy bass eq) and almost no treble. J has more flexible sound, you can get anything out of it :D

I was gonna get out to the store and mess around with some...they did have a j with Seymour duncans as well for under $500..that's still kinda pushing my limit since im buying new cabs as well...I have about $450 I can spend on a bass, but don't wanna necessarily get a pos...am I mistaken or is the Rockbass Warwick their brand of squires?

Rockbass is sort of like Squier, I suppose. In the point that Warwick is the parent company of Rockbass. Rockbass will be higher quality than Squiers though.

Andrew,
If you're looking to find something that will compliment what you already have I would suggest a P-Bass of some sort. There's a certain tonal quality to a that bass with the split pickup that is unique, gutty and very "tasty".

I started a thread yesterday titled "Vintage Brand Basses by JHS". JHS is located in the UK.
I don't know if you have a dealer in your area but the the Vintage ICON V4 is a copy of the Fender Roadworn P-Bass. When I say copy, don't think of a cheaply made clone like many others. Even though this bass is only $399 it far from being a "run of the mill" bass.
It's very well made and the "Wilkinson" P-Bass pickups articulate the tonal qualities of the earlier P-Basses as well as anything out there.
The closest dealer I have is 2 hours away, but was well worth the drive to give them a try. I'm extremely impressed.

Here's a link to their basses:
