Need wiring diagram for spector performer.

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by Human Element, Apr 16, 2012.

  1. Picked up an older performer on craigslist for cheap. "Custom paint" that'll have to go if I decide to keep it. Emg ssd passive soaps. Wiring nightmare. Guess they gutted it to paint. Bridge ground is missing, wires cut/taped. Best if I just scrap & start from scratch.
So...I have searched for hours trying to find diagram. Emailed spector & emg. No luck. Any help from you guys?

  2. Anyone?

look at the diagrams on Dimarzio's website.
Not sure how yours was originally configured, but I'd guess VVTT.

There are a lot of ways to configure the wiring.

On Dimarzio's site, go to the wiring diagram section (Bass) and pick a configuration from the right side and have a look.

You might look at the ultra jazz wiring for 2 Vol, 2 tone

Their pretty basic. The Hz's are passive, usually there's a preamp with them (emg BT, tone pump etc) . They can be wired straight up though (std vol ,treb arrangement) std wiring as for any pickup. There usually is no ground to the bridge as they are grounded to the jack. Wiring diagrams for most basses are on spectors web site.

  5. What are the controls?

If there's not something on the Seymour Duncan website, I'll draw one up.

  6. It's passive, VVTT. Wires- red, white, black, green, & braided shield. There are green caps on the tone pots. There's a hole drilled for the bridge ground (why I figured it was gone). But this thing is a mess. about 8 cut wires/taped splices.

Spector & Emg have nothing on the website for these. Both replied to my emails pretty much tellin me good luck...they couldn't help me with passive wiring.

  7. Fairly standard wiring scheme. You should have been able to find a Jazz Bass diagram.

Note that the tone pots are going to interact.

due to essentially being connected together through the paralleled volume pot outputs, correct?

  9. Exactly.

  10. Thanks L6. So from what i gather...green=hot black=ground red/white tied together to make bucker?

  11. You will have to identify the color code for the pickups. Every manufacturer does it differently.
