Neo 1x15 Cab Recommendations?

I was looking for a good light weight 1x15 cab. General purpose for mid size venues and hoping for something that will take some power if needed for a larger venue. any recommendations? Are most of the neo drivers made by Eminence? I see the GK cabinet pop up in many searches, how are these cabs?

If GK is your budget then these boutique cabs are out of range, unless you look used. I have an Epifani UL-115 NEW would have been $899(Discontinued), but used would be in the $450 range. Great cab with defined lows, and nice sizzle with the tweeter. Only weighs 34 pounds.

What you want, if you want a top notch neo 15, is the Eminence 3015 or Faital Pro 15PR400. These are both tremendous full-range speakers, no tweeter needed. Of course you can add a tweeter if you want/need. But they both are sonic works of art on their own. And loud.

The other route, although more expensive, is an Eminence 3015LF (low frequency) combined with a mid-range speaker, like the 6.5" 18Sound 6ND410. This 115/6.5 cab can outperform most (if not all) mass-marketed 410s while being much smaller/lighter.

Look for a manufacturer that uses one of these 15, like Barefaced, Baer, & Audiokinesis. If it's a different maker, & they won't tell you they use one of these speakers, then they don't.

The alternative is to have a cab built for you. You pick the speaker & other components. The top candidates here are authorized builders of fEARless/fEARful cabs & LDS ( www.LowDownSound.com ).

Would you care to comment on which 15 & 6 drivers your 15/6 is based? I'd be interested. Others might be, too.

Observation: the range of cabs recommended include ones of vastly different voicings. Some are modern and flat-ish, some more old school with limited extension and various freq prominences.

You'll get better, more focused recommendations if you say
1 what kind of music you play, and also
2 if you value deep subs/high twinkle,
3 if you like some a) extra whump in the low mids, b) cut in the high mids, or c) prefer flat and hifi -- etc. etc.

If there are any cabs that you've played thru that you've really liked, you could mention those too.

You could even specify what weight you consider light.
