Neo replacement for SWR Super Redhead?

I have read SEVERAL threads regarding SWR replacement speakers. My question and situation is just a bit different.

I love the SWR Super Redhead sound and my speakers work just fine. My problem and question is about weight. I just can no longer lug 80 lbs around.

Wondering if anyone has researched how much weight could be saved by replacing with lightweight neo speakers and how close to the original sound you could get.

Absolutely understand that it will change the sound as the cabinet was ported FOR specific speakers. My options are to make it lighter, or completely replace with a lighter rig.

Sigh, was hoping for a different answer as I love the SWR Super Redhead, but deep down think I already knew the answer.

Sounds like time for a road trip so I can compare amps and cabs (only thing within a few hour drive is Guitar Center).

If you love the SWR sound, you should be able to find a used, pre-Fender SWR head pretty cheap, like an SM400s or Bass 350 ($225 - $325), and then pair it with a newer, lightweight cab. That should be well under 80 lbs and not hard to carry as two pieces.

I do have an SWR 750X that was part of my larger rig.

Any suggestions on cabs? My short list is all 2x10's. Markbass, Aguilar, and Bergantino.

Mainly play Jazz, Funk, Motown ... with a 5 string.

Another option is to buy a smaller combo--like the Baby Blue (real suggestion but also a shameless plug for an amp I currently have for sale).

Ended up with a Bergantino B Anp and the HDN 212. Couldn't be happier. Has the power, lightweight, and the sound is absolutely amazing.

Definitely should be on everyone's "to check out" list.

I would've recommended that exact rig but the usual response is, "too expensive." Buy once, cry once. Congrats!
