New 5'' midrange driver from eminence!

Thank you. Hey this stuff is my hobby as well as my job, I just wish there were more hours in the day so I could spend more time here.

And good for you, for giving Eminence credit enough to assume that "they wouldn't release the 4 ohm model if it wasn't at least reasonably up to the standard of the previous Kappas", when the available evidence seemed to indicate otherwise.

About "mid-peaks-breakup", it all depends on the type of bassguitar, the type of music and the bandsetting someone is playing in. In a heavyguitar rockband you would likely want the peak to be somewhere between 1.5-2.5khz. In a funkband and when you do slap-n-pop you want it between 3-4.5khz and for the solobassist who like the zing you want it flat or a peak in the 5-6khz region. And if you want to be flexible get a neutralcab without voicing and dial it in with eq like I do myself, I like to be a chameleon.

So...did anyone build a mid box with this? I would imagine this would be a nice "midrange" cab using these components:

Basically put the x-ver into the box and have an output for an existing 15" or 12" speaker. Maybe even put in a variable midrange pad into it?

I did. Based on my limited experience, it seemed to work well with a 3012LF. It has more than enough extension into the higher frequency ranges to function as a tweeter as well as upper midrange driver. I used a 2nd order filter that was in the 1000z range. Next time I get around to this project I'll try an Eminence 1.6khz two way.
