hey guys ive posted this before but uhh im looking for a new head, im not happy with my ampeg svt 3, i want something with a clear undistorted low end for a b-string that would add some bassy high notes as well.. thinking maybe an swr workingpro 400 or even a 550x, what do you guys think? any other suggestions?

anyone out there? ahaha i need something thats punchy and bassy ya know.. i guess and i hate using this but im looking for a dirk lance kind of tone, anyone have any ideas?
i had a 550x, it got so hot, you could have a stir fry on it...and way overpriced for what's out there.

What kind of speakers do you use? I've used an SVT 3 Pro before and never had a problem with distortion on the notes below E (back when I played 5's, that is). I'd look to the speakers before the head.

Seriously, Trace Elliot amps are probably the cleanest, warmest amps out there, save a few GKs or Mesas. Just listen to any of Blind Melon's stuff.

i'm using a swr workingpro 4x10 cab. not liking it too much, too bright sounding, not really deep enough, what did you use with you svt 3?
I used an SVT cab and a Tube Works 4x10". I think the problem lies more in your speaker, to be quite honest.
