New Amp?

Ive been Using my PROformance BA 60 amp for about a year now, well since I got serious about playing and needed something to gig with. As much as it is OK, I was wanting to upgrade to something better but im quite unsure as to what to get, I hear good things about AMPEG amps but then again apparently everyone has one, and I like to be different, even if they are very good.

Any help is appreciated :D

at the end of the day it's up to your ears and budget, you have a bazillion choices out there and you kinda have to go try them out.

That said, can you give us your budget and what kind of sound you're looking for? Also what is your band using in terms of amps? Loud drummer? These details help us help you ;)

Congrats and condolences on a being a bassist these days. When I started you could count the good brands on one hand. The "Ampeg name" has been around a long time through many changes in who owned the name. Some very good products are still made under that name.
Your choices now are a lot more broad. G-K, Genz-Benz, Fender, Mesa, Carvin, MarkBass, Peavey, Hartke, Ashdown, Aguilar just to name a few. You need to play any and all brands you can with YOUR bass to see which brand will best fit you and what your ears want to hear.

Ah sorry, was a bit vague on Info there!
Im looking for a alternative/grunge sound. Mainly along the lines of Tim Commerford, but obviously I want to deviate from that a bit, as I have more of a grungy sound in mind.
My band use marshall combo amps, not quite sure on the build. Yes our drummer is loud haha, have to increase the volume alot sometimes! Id say my Budget would be anything up to £400 but willing to go for £450

Ah, on the other side of the pond, not as familiar with the EU brands.

B-String named a bunch of good ones.

I'd suggest going used to get the most bang for your buck. If you're looking for a rather aggressive sound I like GK, though you certainly get that on pretty much any amp.

You should look at something around 300 watts (minimum) and a cab with 4-10s, 2-15s, etc in order to hang with those Marshalls.
