New Band-New Bass

I'm officially out of my last band and now jamming with some guys. The style is probably post-hardcore/doom/something (you can check it out Link Removed). I already have a Warwick Infinity that I absolutely love and dont want to mess with the nut (new band requires Low Tuning) and a Stingray. I'm also GASing for this jazz. Which one is better for this music style? The stingray (and save $) or the jazz?
Have you downtuned any of the two basses and did they sound nice that way? Sorry for the noob questions.

I'll be using drop B! Thats B F# B (?) i think.

B-F#-B-E# i would believe, the question is, when do you need the bass by and therefore which one is the better option for you to get, though more than likely it will require you getting the nut setup for higher gauge strings for that tuning

No, he uses Ibanez.
He currently uses a SR1005 but will soon switch to his sig Ib.

if i was going for ibanez for drop tunings i'd go for the Sharlee D'angelo or the Mike D'antonia, personally, but aye, a jazz should put up with that tuning just fine

I use a 1987 Greco Jazz Bass that I tune to B-F#-B-E I filed the nut to fit the BEAD strings and bought some lower gauge strings to compensate for the tune up tension and had my bass set up again. I play in a grind band. So far so good.

B-F#-B-E and on a 5'er, I had to sometimes do A or double the E or go C, depending on the tune, on what would be the G. (although, I rarely used that string for the tunes we did)

I used a Ibanez SR535, worked perfect with no mod need other than set up.

Took some getting use to the string spacing. But the 5 was the way to go. No floppy mess. Tuned up to pitch instead of down. No clickty-clack and lots of bloom and bottom end.

Id prob pick the Jazz between the two, for more comfortable to neck to me. I would replace the bridge with a nice more massive brass one though. Maybe replace the pups with rockfield jazz set. Dunno, would have to hear it first. But really would prefer an Ibanez or Traben.

Jeff Caxide from Isis uses that tuning on his Stingray, I believe.
