Double Bass New Bass Day!

I'm posting so you all can share in my happiness.

I told myself that if I buckled down and got serious about improving my arco playing my reward would be looking to upgrade to a fully carved bass.

Today I brought this puppy home from the shop! Bought it a few weeks ago from a nice local couple (their son played it through college) and immediately took it to Brian Gencarelli in upstate SC for a new bridge, new endpin, two small crack repairs, and setup.

I'm in love y'all. Label just says "handarbeiten aus mittenwald" 1961. Looks similar to basses I've seen attributed to Benedikt Lang. Taking it out this weekend for a gig, can't put it down.

Congratulations! What a beauty!

Just curious on your take on the Romberg bevel. I know there are some who aren’t that keen on them but I actually kinda like mine on my Strunal hybrid.

Hope you enjoy the heck out of it!
... and good luck with the bow.

Well, this is the first bass I've owned that has a bevel, so I'll have to get back to you after a while. My first impressions are that I don't notice that much of a difference, but we'll see.
