Thanks everyone! I have been skipping lunches and saving for a very long time for this baby. The Taurus preamp is an absolute beast. This is the first time I have liked the sound of bass + amp alone in a very long time.
The reason the nut is missing was due to my request for heavier gauge strings. The lowest string (tuned to A) is a .142. No nut would hold that string.

Does it have a maple/bubinga neck and what is the fretboard made of?
I´m waiting myself for the completition of a Bee Stinger.

Thanks! The entire bass is Mahogany and Bubinga. The fretboard is bubinga as well. I wanted as much tone from the bubinga as possible.
Want to give us some insight into the use of a fret and extra fretboard at the headstock instead of a bone nut?
Fred uses zero fret for his fretted basses like many high-end builders use nowadays e.g. MTD, Skjold, Marleaux, Le Fay, etc. The extended fingerboard have string slots at the end that acts as a nut, to guide/space out the strings. Pretty neat design.
