New bass player, checking in!

I am extremely new to bass. I just purchased my first bass today. I got a Schecter Diamond Series Bass. Is that a good bass to start out with? I just wanted some opinions from people who actually know more about bass then I do. I payed about $200 for it. Good price? Decent bass? Any major tips? I've played electric guitar for about 3 years, and I am pretty fluent at it. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Awesome! Any bass is good to start out with I learned bass and guitar at the same time, both of those first instruments were a POS. When I got the chance to upgrade to decent gear, in both cases I improved immediately from having an instrument that did what it was built to, better. I believe the years on cheap necks and fretboards served to strengthen my hands and exaggerated the compensations I had to make to avoid fret buzz, poor intonation and tone, etc. So when I got something decent in my hands it was like - too easy! Felt like I was nailing everything immediately. Have fun with it!
