I have a new 4 string schecter jazz bass and want to get it set up because I play in drop Tunings like drop C and Drop D. I mostly play in drop C. What tuning should I get my bass setup in?
The best setup will be one where you won't change the tuning. That said, if you need to go back and forth have it set up for the lower tuning - when you tune higher your action may get a little taller but you won't have the buzzing issues low on the neck that come with tuning down and having the neck straighten out.
If at all possible, have a different instrument for each tuning and have them set up for it.

By drop d/c you mean the whole instrument or just 4th string?
Better to setup for lower tuning... better to tune up and have a little too much relief than not enough... Also consider going a little heavier Guage strings ....

Thanks for the reply! I guess I'll get it set up in C. I rarely play drop D buy sometimes I do. My band might be writing songs In drop D but we mostly write our songs in drop C. Also If I get it setup in drop c would it be easy to go to D standard? DGCF?
