New bass?

Hi all!

I'm curently saving up for a good new bass.

I presently have a Peavy Fury VI (a good bass for the money), but I want a good 4 string, in a range of about 1000 - 1300$.

I'm thinking of maybe a Rickenbacker or a Stingray.

Anyway, I was wondering what you guys might suggest me.

You should probably give some info on your style/what you're looking for so that people can give you good useful recommendations...

both Ric's and Stingrays are very solid basses and you will not be dissapointed, however, you should also really check out just about everything.

Some other basses to check out would be:
ESP B-500's - i got this one, no complaints
Ibanez SR900, BTB
Schecters
Spector proffesional series and ReBop's - i want to know how those Mike Kroeger models sound
Moser Custom Shop - handmade bolt-on's, "Templar" line. you should really check these out
Cort - i think some of these are a steal of a deal. especially if you change the pickups (if they don't already come with bartiloni's)
