New Bass

I am a new bass player and am looking at getting my first bass. I want to play metal and rock music. Guns & Roses, Aerosmith, Metalic, AX7 that sort of stuff.

Which of these 3 would people say is the best.

It's not the bass that plays the music, it's the player. Buy any bass and rock it. No bass is made specifically for one style of music.

Yes I am. Will be looking at some spainish sites too as I have just got a house outside madrid. Might be moving over there soon.

I know it is the player but I am still wondering which is best.

Are you a new player? You should perhaps start off with a 4-string. If you're taking lessons, you should perhaps speak with your instructor - as they will know you better than any of us. But in the end your choice has to be based on your own tastes and research...

In the interest of answering the question, in order:
The BTB is the best of the bunch, IMO - especially for what you want to play.
Yamaha's are nice, I own a BB G5, very cool. I've read that the RBX's are a bit less resiliant to damage and take bumps a bit hard.
The Brice is probably fairly solid - I know a fellow who plays a Brice, I've handled it, solid construction.

Don't forget to look into Schecter - they make some nice stuff. Also, Dean, believe it or not.

Id say Ibanez, Yamaha, Brice. In that order.

You may want to consider buying used. If so theres a ton of great peavey, Yamaha, and ibanez to be had for great prices.

Stay away from a 5er. All of the bands (except for possibly metallica) you mentioned the bass players use 4 strings.

I have both 5 and 4's, and I always pick up the 4 when it comes to a band that originally wrote the song around a detuned 4

Ibanez or Yamaha for the choice between your 2 options. Go for the 5-string right away, then you don't have to re-learn the instrument with an addiitional string later.

I'd recommend maybe step up to a Ibanez ATK300 a four stringer or the ATK305 a fiver.

I know for a fact that the ATK is versatile I owned a ATK305 and for over 6 months I've put it up against other basses at the $500 - $600 USD range and it has been able to either beat or atleast keep up with all of them.

I picked up mine used for $350 USD so if you look you can get one for a steal.

FYI Johnny Christ plays a Stingray and the ATK's nickname is "The Stingray Killer" cause it costs less and is sonically identical except the Stingray is more treble-y and the ATK is more midrange based but, hey a couple twists of the amp and preamp solves that problem.
