Actually yes, the Vortex will also be introduced in the Standard series as well as 6 string versions down the road. Right now though we are just working on the 4's and 5's in the SCD.

Hey Brian, will the fingerboards be standardized too? I know I saw a maple board on the first one, but this latest batch looks like ebony? Will they just be wired VVT unless the preamp is added?

Yes, they will be wired Vol-Vol-Tone when pre is not added. We have it setup though so the pre can be added anytime and it will be the normal hole layout once added.

The Finger board will be Rosewood and Maple. Rosewood will probably be seen more on them. We have plans for some Ash body's which will be topless and might do them in stains with a maple board.

Angle design does have a lot to do with a nice B, but its about the down pressure pull over the nut as well as the bridge angle of the string over the saddle. Scoop headstocks are used on many manufacture basses like Lakland, Fender, etc. Even some what would be considered high-end builder's used the scoop headstock design. I think one of the most important causes for a taught B and nice response comes from a strong neck more then anything. And we are using 3 pc necks on these for a stiffer neck then one pc neck.

I'm sure there will be Lefty's since there is a need and we do not want to leave anyone out.

Brian told me yesterday the 5 string will be 35" scale. This bass would be the biggest bang for the buck I can recall since the Metro or Skyline series. It's even sweeter since the Benevente Standard is US made. If I could only get black hardware on it ................

im not in the single cut basses but that bass has me wanting one bad. Grey Goose said get one of these before they run out is this going to be a limited production bass?

Price on the Vortex will probably be the same. They way these are being built in batch's the difference between the two body designs really won't vary the price of them.

And yes, these are US made from ground up in the Benavente Shop. We don't want to mislead anyone about where they are made. If in the future things change we will make sure everyone knows and its clear where things come from. We will not use words like "hand fit",and other terms to pass off something its not. I'm very please that we are able to offer this and I think the market is right for this instrument. A production SC, well as production as we can get in the Benavente shop.
