I have my guitar to a playable stage and close enough to finished to post some pics. There are a few things I am still working on, including another EMG module that goes in the empty knob space on the control plate.
I prefer to call this more of a design than a real build, because the thru body neck is a Carvin pre made. I bought this neck in 1993, and Ive been working on the thing on and off through the years. Finally pulled it out get it on the road. I completely changed the original design, including the bridge. This left some funky fixes which are less than pristine. While I wanted the bass to look cool, it is primarily a functional instrument - so I think nothing of fairly radical experimentation. Some stuff ended up more harmonious than other stuff. Ha !
The neck is epoxyed and buffed, with inlayed fretlines. Im still working on the set up so the strings on it are ganked up. Ive had them on and off while I worked on things.

Birdseye maple control panels front and back - and veneer on headstock
Carvin "gumby" headstock reshaped with inlay on edge of headstock.
Lace wood pickup rings
EMG jazz pickups with 1 9v.
Hipshot Type A bridge - soon to be strung thru the body. Toploaded at the moment.
Sperzel locking tuners.
