New EWS BMC 2 - Worth the added gain boost switch and volume control?

If the added gain is anything like the new Trilogic III, it'll make this a pretty interesting pedal. There aren't many pedals that size, especially bass-specific ones, that offer dirt AND a semi-parametric mid EQ.

Looking forward to sound clips - I have a BMC and while I don't use it in a way that would benefit from an ability to add a bit of dirt, I might pick up one of these news ones just to try if initial reviews are favorable. I'm happy with the Trilogic III so hopefully the new BMC is good too.

The EWS BMC is one of the best pedals that nobody ever talks about. Frankly, it should be on almost every bass pedalboard. It's incredibly useful, sounds fantastic and takes up no space. What's not to like?!!

With regards to the original vs the BMC2, it will depend whether you can still find the original and whether there's much of a price difference. The new features are cool though not everyone will need them.

I would agree wholeheartedly with this statement.

The BMC is one of the most useful pedals I have for gigging.

Got the pedal today. While it still isn't able to produce any breakup/dirt (the high gain mode is just like a clean boost, sounds good though), having the master volume control on the face of the pedal is really helpful for tweaking.

BMC1 adjustable frequency band range is 120Hz ~ 3kHz.
BMC2 adjustable frequency band range is narrower at 160Hz~2.5kHz.

Just got the BMC1 (now hard to find new). What a great tool!

Is the BMC the same things as the mid control on the Tri-Logic III? Or does one have a better sound?

I think I've owned, i think, 4 or 5 of these through the years, starting with V1. Great pedal! Might have to pick up another one.

I know this is an old post, but I just picked up an EWS BMC2.

According to the BMC2 and Tri-Logic III manuals:​

BMC2 mids: +/-12db at 160Hz to 2.5kHz​

Tri-Logic III mids: +/- 10db at 250Hz to 3kHz​

I am using the pedal to boost frequencies around 700 to 800Hz instead of using a general volume boost. Used it at a gig last Friday. Happy with the result. I am using the pedal in the 18v setting.

I will state that I find a separate volume knob and gain boost switch slightly redundant. I thought the gain boost switch might add grit, but that does not seem to be the case for me.

I have since removed its black footswitch topper as it interfered with the pedal engaging when stepped on.
