New Fender Antigua models...

I'm hoping to find a Jazz (NOS are hard to find now) and install a neck pickup cover as you did and a small bridge cover from a Precision...I will leave the pickguard edges painted.

I have a lefty SX neck with the old headstock, with white binding and blocks. It also has a nice tint to it...that's what I'll be installing on the Jazz. And no, I WON'T be putting a fake Fender sticker on the headstock...although I might make it blank.

Every now and then Rondo gets old headstock style blocked necks in for around $60. Can't beat 'em.

I was at Twin Town in Minneapolis recently and they had a P and a J in antigua. I love them. Willie's American Guitars in St. Paul has a '78 Musicmaster in antigua. I love it. My wife hates them all. She says they look dirty.

Which means I can't have one.

Until I have a studio that she does not enter. Then I can have an antigua and a naked poster on the same wall XD

Poor little Antigua Annie. She's probably crying in her case because we bass players are so fickle. She was your favorite, at least for awhile; but then you found a new love. Kind of reminds me of "Puff the Magic Dragon". ;) But I know how it goes. I make an effort to take turns playing mine each day when I play around the house. That way they get relatively equal time.

I have a lot of nice rides including a shiny new 62 AVRI P and the Antigua still gets taken to rehearsal regularly and without fail. I wanted a hair more out of the pick ups so I installed Fralins. It is an articulate beast. Other than the DJ 5, the most comfortable to play bass that I have.

Just bought one on evilbay. The previous owner did a crap job of installing a new pickup (Duncan ) and a heavier bridge. The action was about 3/4 inch above the fingerboard, BUT, after a little tlc, it is a REALLY nice pbass. Im loving it. I lusted after one in the 70's when I was a teen.

Satisfied Antigua P bass owner here. I have to say mine is a very nicely built bass. Fit and finish are excellent. Dunno how many pieces of alder the body might be made of, but that's irrelevant to me.

It weighs exactly 8 1/2 lbs, resonates nicely and sounds good with stock elecs. I have a few upscale pickups to experiment with, but there is no real need for replacement.

Bought mine online from a brick 'n mortar music store. They asked how I wanted it set up, which was nice. I've only had to file the fret ends this winter. Otherwise, perfect.

I've got my antigua jazz now for almost a year and half, and it's climbed it's way pretty much up to the top of a pile of about 20 other high end basses I own. And that's coming from a bonified, dyed in the wool, Fender hater. I've owned about dozen Fenders of all types including a 76 P, and this is the only one I've ever fallen completely in love with. And it's not for the color. I've had no issue with it (had lots of issues with every other Fender I've owned), it feels great, sounds great, plays great, sits awesomely in the mix... I can't say enough about it. And it stood the test of time. Played countless gigs w it, and it's been to lots of rehearsals. May have even turned this totally active guy into a passive person. Not ready to completely commit to that statement yet though. :)
