New GK combo's tech question ????

I have the GK MB115 gen 2 on order and am also going to get the GK MBP115 powered ext cab.

I always like to have back up gear for emergency's so in case I'm at a gig and the MB115 blows up can I use my back up MB200 or MB500 head to run the MBP115 cab ?

If Rag or anyone else that knows for sure cares to chime that would be great.

Technically you could. GK recommend using their special clean out jack on the back of the mb115 iirc

Hi Davyo, as I understand it - GK only recommends using GK amps that have the new “chain out” with the MBP power cabs.

The powered MBP cabs require a +10db line level signal (chain out provides this hot signal). I don't know if the effects send on the MB500 or the line out/headphone on the MB200 could provide the proper signal. The speaker outs SHOULD NOT be used.

I wonder if future GK MB-III combo’s will have both the “chain out” and “chain in” with a switch so it can be used both as a standard bass combo or as a ext powered cab too.
