Anybody listening to the new Jill Scott? It's really good. There's some nice bass playing by Adam Blackstone, Vincent "VT" Tolan, Khari Mateen, Paul "DW" Wright, and Andre Harris.

New Jill Scott record "To Whom it May Concern"

She was doing the rounds on the morning tv shows today. The whole band sounded great!
This one is catchy as hell.
The first time I heard this one I was a little stoned and I almost convinced myself it was just Giant Steps slowed down.
It's great and some great bass playing for sure. I was looking at the credits in Wiki and not sure if Blackstone actually plays bass on any of it, but he's all over the album otherwise.

I haven't heard her new record yet. But my mom is a huge Jill Scott fan, so this metalhead is aware of her music by proxy.
If you're looking for a tour de force of killer neo soul five string bass playing, go straight to this album. The bassists on it are all fantastic and very upfront. I've been a fan since her early days. Have seen her live (with Adam Blackstone--so good). This album may be my favorite.
They played To B Honest the other day on the radio and I paid attention immediately, then the bass solo kicked in, fantastic playing by Paul DW Wright. Listening to the full album this weekend, digging it!
