New Khruangbin! Dreamy

It occurred to me only recently that Khruangbin is musically interesting. Before I had dismissed them because the guitar-forward style was too much of the same flavor.
More recently I started listening more to the bass and drums, and I now appreciate the elegance of their simple and spacious groove. Laura Lee avoids playing extra notes and leaves plenty of space. Same for the DJ's drums. I like the bare-bones mix that allows the bass to live in a slightly higher register where the simple lines can still poke out a bit.

Yeah, She and DJ turn the "Flashy" dial all the way over to "Tasty"; sometimes simple language is best when relating something profound.

I’m on my second time through the new album. I think it’s their best yet. It’s very coherent and the bass tones are just luscious and perfectly-recorded. On previous albums, the guitarist overplayed some, which understandable because of the trio format. Laura Lee is getting more confident and the bass lines are memorable.
