New member, learning bass at 60

Hello all. I"m a new member from Indianapolis, beginning my bass journey at age 60. I started out playing drums and got decent, but carpal tunnel and arthritis in the elbows forced me to quit drums, so as bass is tied with drums on my list at the top, I'm learning bass. I also have herniated discs in the neck and a bad back, so after trying a few different basses, I'm going with a Hofner Ignition Club, as the weight is perfect, doesn't bother me at all. Currently, I'm beginning lessons on studybass.com and I also have done a few at jamplay, and at the same time searching for a local instructor here in Indy to get me going.
Most of my favorite music is Grateful Dead, Govt Mule, Allmans, Beatles, and blues, so I think the Hofner will serve me well for that.

The learning curve from drums to bass is not that big a deal. If you understand rhythm the specific notes are a piece of cake.

Thanks. Yes one advantage I have is I've always been very good with rhythm. I can listen to any style of music and pick the rhythm up very quickly. One thing I am looking to do eventually is learn how to upgrade the tuners on my Ignition Violin.
Sadly, my search for person to person lessons is not going well, so I'm going to study hard at studybass.com and jamplay and keep looking.

That's good to know. When I saw there is soldering involved, me doing that may not be such a good idea...
