I'm a sculptor not a luthier. A few years ago I made a rough copy of a Guild M 85 ll out of Mahogany using a Kiesel neck through neck and some professional hole cutting. I've been happy with it, but my hands kept itching to really sculpt a bass and my head kept throwing up ideas to try. So I got what may be one of the last necks Kiesel sold last year in walnut. A powered fret saw roughed out the wings, also in walnut. Which were then worked on with rasps, gouges, chisels, and files. I did change directions a bit and took a few chances. Sand paper to absurd levels of fineness. I did 2/3rds of the finish and then spent 3 months sanding the body back to bare wood. Currently the finish is curing for another week, or so before I polish it. Opinion, so far,
is it looks good and plays well. I hope you like it.
