I like the Strat-style pickup count & layout.

IME three pickups are more useful on a bass-tuned instrument than they might seem.

They should give the Big Al a unique :bassist: and versatility.

Oh yeah. As soon as you can... Clips! Clips! Clips! :)

Which guitar center? I went to the one in Boston thursday night and played the one they had there, along with the 25th aniv bass. All the other local stores have been so slow on picking up new equipment, the attleboro and natick stores didn't even have sterling 5's as of last month. Not that they didn't have them in stock, they never had them in stock. As far as the Big Al, it's definitely an interesting bass. The looks don't bother me, but I think I was hoping it would sound a little different. Not that it sounds bad, but it sounds like a musicman if you know what I mean. Not that that's a bad thing or anything like that, but I already have my Sterling 5, so I don't need another bass that sounds like it.

Played one today at a local guitar center and whoo! Great bass. I love the tonal options. There are tons of them. Tons. Being able to go from passive to active is quite nice. The active ads a nice boost, excellent if you want to put some sexy lipstick on your basses sound. I'm trying to convince myself that I don't need one :rollno: . I definitely recommend a try if you see one!

I cant figure out the pics, sorry maybe someone else can help with that?

But as of a week ago the passive and active button dont work I have to press it 10 times for it to turn on.sux

I got the one year on it but Im not sure if I want to send it out to cali to get fixed.

I like im going to send it to becker guitars in attlboro mass to get switches put in. I figured becker must be a great shop since my favorite band just started going there (Umphreys Mcgee) granted pony dont shop there but jake just picked up a great guitar becker makes.

Anyone heard any bad thing about becker guitars.

I might start a new tread on this just so peeps know the buttons fail early on the big al.

O ya forgot I got the new bassPlayer mag and its got a good article on the big al and the 25 anniversery. It says that with none of the bridge buttons on, the two parallel pickups work as a double humbucker.just throwing it out there.
