I'm looking for a more vintage sound, and have been considering the Fender Custom Shop 60s pickups. Any other advice based on your own experience? I've also been thinking about the Fender noiseless set. If it helps, I play classic rock, jazz, and some slap stuff. Thanks for the help.

nordstrand is the best fender JB replacement pup. its got bell like tone. when i compared to stock jb pup, the sound was cleaner yet louder. i think it's more heard like v-shaped equalized.
+1 for Lollar pickups...Replaced a set of Nordie NJ4SV's with em. I'm awaiting a set of Bill Lawrence to compare but am more than satisfied.

Well, if you really don't care about the vintage thing, I would recommend the DiMarzios. Good output, punchy, and good clarity all across the sound spectrum, for not a lot of money.

I've never heard the SD's, but Bass Player magazine gave them a top tone award in the Jbass pickups shootout years ago. I also hear that Roger Sadowsky uses an Antiquity pickup for his single coils, so I don't see how anybody can go wrong with them.
