The $1500 range is definitely the ceiling for me. Nice to know not everyone is out to gouge you.

Updated alert.. the same music store just told me they also have a Fender AMerican Deluxe Jazz Bass V Ash for $1299.00

Now I'm in a real pickle. I really like both of those basses!

Did you get the MID Ric? It really is a terrific color!

Get the blue bass. The price as as good as you are going to find for a new one and the color is really cool.

As long as they have sorted the bleed problem properly you're safe to buy it.
The resale value of my 4003 was seriously affected by the problem.
Fortunately, it plays and sounds superb.

If it smells VERY strongly of piant, it is possibly a dog and you shouldn't buy it.
