I think this bass was seen in NAMM and someone posted pictures of it.

Any more news from Squier? It would be cool to get some more fretless options!

I think they did that with the Jaguars.

5 years ago there was a Jaguar-boom in Squier with 3 different models released in several color choices (Jaguar PJ SS, Jaguar PJ active, Jaguar Humbucker active) at once.

Then Fender "copied" that with the Fender Modern Player Jaguar PJ.



I'm happy with that. I really hope Squier surprises us with a bunch of new models soon, since NAMM has been so disappointing in that regard.

That was part of the Vista Series, same as their Musicmasters, right?

I hope more neato-cool stuff keeps coming out of Squier, doubly-so if they were available here in the U.S. I'm still a little honked-off that the black-finished Classic Vibe Jazzes weren't widely available out here. :spit: I would've loved to convert it to a P/J (using a CV-P pickup, of course…gotta keep it in the family! ;)) and match it up with a blocked/painted-headstock Jaguar neck from those glorious Squier Jag-days @WhoSeyes mentioned. I, for one, think something like that would look beyond cool! :cool:

Hmmm…I wonder if Squier is looking for an art director. :smug:

You know what? I'm going to bump this thread every week or so. This thing deserves more attention. I can't stop thinking about it. Godzilla knows I need to focus on other things than a new bass, but I really feel the urge to get one and convert it to a narrow-spaced fiver. Rebirth of the Fender V!
With the fret shortage issue fixed, and a shorter scale and lighter headstock to make it work balance-wise. Pity about the original hs, it does really complement a Mastanguar style instrument IMO, but as I said, the Tele-style headstock contributes to the whole system so, oh well.

Does anyone know if Jarman's personal bass is a prototype, or a Frankensteined concoction of his made of a real Fender V body mated to a Squier Tele neck and a P pickup?

I was wondering what happened to the VM Telecaster bass special that came out a couple years ago. 32" scale
1 and 2 pickup models, very nice sounding and playing bass except for the absurd amount of weight. I tried 2 of the 2 pickup models and it sounded really sweet and deep and easy to play. Well for five or ten minutes anyway
because the weight just seemed to want to pull your shoulders to the floor. I really thought that one would hang around for awhile but I guess it didn't catch on or maybe others didn't like the weight or looks or something.

I'd buy one if I could, but I would only play it while seated. I would want the single-pickup model.
