new stingray, string buzzzz

Hi all, I just purchased a brand new musicman stingray classic 4. I think that either the neck might need to be adjusted or the action is too low since if I hold down the bottom string on the 2nd fret and hold down the same string on the 12th fret, the string is touching all the other frets so there is buzz...(this is for all the strings). What direction would I need to turn the tross rod and what tools do I need for this? Thanks!

To adjust the truss rod, Stingrays have a spoke wheel type truss rod nut. It doesn't require any special tool, it just needs a metal rod of some sort that's at least 3" long, and a diameter that fits into one of the holes on the spoke wheel nut. Most folks use an allen wrench. Looking at the neck from the heel end, turn the truss rod spoke wheel clockwise to tighten the truss rod which will straighten the neck or remove relief. Turn the wheel counter-clockwise to loosen the truss rod or add relief. It sounds as though you might want to loosen the truss rod 1/4 turn or so. Have you ever done basic setups before?

WAIT! STOP!
You just bought an American Music Man and cranked the truss-rod 2 1/4 full turns?
Does the bass buzz when it's in the amp and you pluck the string at a normal playing level of energy?
If at a normal level of playing the sting buzzes I would be VERY surprised.
IF you didn't do that but played it vigorously or when the Bass was NOT plugged in..... STOP.
2 full turns is pretty damn excessive. You have a over $1000 in musical instrument. -=IF=- it buzzed when played at a normal playing energy level (NOT excessive) PLEASE call MUSIC MAN! You have a full warranty on a very expensive instrument. MM is not in the habit of letting their instruments go out of the factory set up like crap.

Dear lord... I don't do 2 1/4 turns in a year.

Some adjustments with the neck don't show right away. It's best to do a 1/4 turn and then wait a day.
