New TC Electronics BG250 Low Volume?

I just pulled the amp out of the box and plugged it in. Clipping light comes on at just over 3 with no audible volume below gain 3 and volume 3. Low volume between 3 and 5. Tone settings do affect tone, but not below stated 3 volume level. Mp3 playback through aux jack volume seems low as well for volume knob setting. Is this normal for this amp? When looking at standard tone settings card on top of amp gain is at 12 O'Clock for all three genres, but amp will clip continuously at that gain level. Everything works, including Tone Print beaming.

I'm playing a Stingray Classic, but there's no active/passive switch on amp.

Sorry to say, there's nothing normal sounding about that.

Your test of the aux input would suggest that this doesn't have anything to do with your bass.

I'd think it's gotta go back. You just opened the box. It should be replaced.
