I've got a Polaron and I dig it! It's pretty juicy. Having said all that, and in spite of all the searching and researching I've put into looking at phasers, I've actually taken the Polaron off of my main board in favor of my trusty Boss PH-3. I know, that completely flies in the face of all that's holy about phasers, but the truth of the matter is the Boss just makes the phaser sound that I want to hear. It has adjustable stages, like the Polaron. The PH-3 is a bit easier to dial in than the Polaron, 4 knobs vs. 6 knobs. I've got the PH-3 at 10-stages with the Rate at 10, Depth at 1, and Res at 1(all values are clock face), and it sounds amazing. There's no mix knob, but there's no low-end loss either.

I'd say if someone is looking for a phaser on a budget, you should at least give the Boss PH-3 a shot. You might be pleasantly surprised at how good it is. I'd still like to have a Spaceman Explorer Deluxe, but I'm honestly content with the Boss PH-3.

I actually got rid of the boss phaser for the mxrphase 90 and for guitar those two pedals are close but for bass I’m with you the boss and all it’s stages are the poopie! Now I’m lookin to sell or trade my boss sy1 synth. I love it and it’s sounds. But I’m
In a jam band we improv a lot, means I need control of what’s going on, I can’t bend over mid set and mess with this pedals an all that. Plus I dotn use synth as much as I thought, I’ll get one but way down the road and it’ll be a programmable one. But I love phasers they are my fav modulation pedal. And I loved how the Boss sounded on bass. I traded it in knowing I can get that boss back reallt whenever, my question is how is that polaron? Does it sound as thick and wide as the videos? I need something like reverb, delay, chorus, something to give space to a jam or piece of music. Phaser is my favorite cause it’s like to me all of the modulations combined in some weird way. But I noticed I could hear the phaser sound at band levels cuz my low end was to much. I only had a single 15” cab. Since adding that I can hear my effects much better but I haven’t pulled the trigger on the
Phaser. It looks like it’s the best one ever! I love the LFO side, cause I just love envelope filters. I just wondered how it did on bass? And is it worth it sound wise or does the boss do pretty much what the polaron can? Cuz in reality I could get the Boss a lot cheaper expression predal an sort of get they LFO effect but that polaron has me gassin hard. and I need a pedal to give the band space in the jams if you all
Know what I mean. right now synth, envelope filter, compressor “hyper luminal co
Comp :) she’s a beast” then a boss octave, I keep a Sansamp on my board as an eq type of pedal, but I mainly keep it just incase something goes wrong at a show an my
Head doesn’t want to work, atleast the sansamp can still get me through “as long as there is a PA lol” so I don’t think I should sell the sansamp. Only thing that makes sense to boot is boss octave oc3 or the Boss synth. The boss synth can def get more value cause it’s brand new.

I LOVE Phaser on bass! I'm 100% in on the MXR Phase 100, it fits right in the nice lushness a chorus has and is funky enough to get stepped on sometimes in place of my envelope filter. To me the 100 can get a lot of nicer sounds than a 90 and it can get very deep
Might be worth a look!
I got the 90 for bass and I’m
Wondering should I have gotten the 100 for more dials. I am harcorse phaser lover. Idk why more bassists don’t use them
For slow Deep swells or jam
Improvisation. It opens things up
So much by far my fav mod pedal. I can’t seem to get use to octave or gain on bass. I just don’t think they sound right to
Me that sound is more for the guitar. I do like The soul
Food tho for the bass it sounds kinda narly.
