Hey,

I'd like to hook my computer up to my sound card, which unfortunately isn't compatible no matter how I do it.

So anyone have any good suggestions for hooking my amp to my computer and then recording it?

If you let us know what soundcard you are using, or at least what ins/outs are available to you, someone may be able to address your specific problem. Sorry, I can't help you out on this one... I use a Firewire interface for going to my computer.

Yes, we need more details. What amp are you using? What sound card?
If your amp has a headphone out, you could connect that to Line in on your sound card for example but we could help you more if you give us specifics.

Amp I'm using now is a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb mounted on an ampeg 1x15 cab.

Soundcard is a... uh... how do I figure out what sound card my computer has? Its stock and its a dell dimension 3000 I got last october...

The input is an 1/8" jack.

Yeah, my friends method was getting an adaptor, which I did. Unfortunately it didn't work. The soundcard had two input jacks, and the thing didnt work in either of them...

My brother gave me and external sound card thing (I think its a sound card)

It says its a Sound Blaster Mp3+
Then it says in the caption says its a USB sound system. Its the wrong thing then? I'm not very good at computers at all.

Cheapest way is an adapter from the amp or direct from the bass. I don't suppose you've got an effects loop or a headphone out though, do you? Going direct will get the worst sound, although it might sit in a mix pretty well.

EDIT: You just need to fiddle with your recording settings. Make sure to select the proper jack as your input and make sure it's unmuted. You'll have to open up volume control and tell it to "adjust settings for recording".

Since I'm using a 42 year old amp, there isn't a headphone jack.

I tried routing a cable from one of the speaker outs into the computer but to no avail and tried plugging in my bass direct, and then again direct through my pre-amp. Still won't even pick anything up
