New To Reason Essentials - Suggestions On Recording Bass

Hi,

I downloaded Reason Essentials last week and I have been playing with recording my bass direct. For my signal chain I am using a Paul Lairat Stega to an A-Designs KGB (pre amp) into PreSonus Audiobox to Reason. Even with this set up my bass tone is very weak and essentially thin. I added some of the bass amp rack plug ins to beaf up my sound but still not getting what I am looking for.

For a slap tone I am trying to go for something like this .

Is my PreSonus Audiobox the weakest link in the chain? Or do I need to add more plug ins? I was thinking about going to Universal Audio Apollo.

Thanks!
