Hello all bassists, my name is Ivan Munoz. I'm 18 and I've been playing bass (and a little guitar) for a couple years now.
Though I play other instruments, bass is easily my favorite and I feel like I jive with it and actually have fun learning new things and practicing.
I'm a huge Beatles and Jamerson fan and am highly influenced by both. Mainly McCartney though.
Attached is a photo of me playing live with my modded Hofner Icon. It's kind of junky, but I love it. I learned everything on this bass.
Although I'm new to talkbass, I know how forums work, so adjusting to these settings can't be too hard. I was previously a member of Rick Resource, but left on good terms.
Obviously I'm a huge fan of Hofner and Rickenbackers. All basses with a vintage vibe are for me though. Symmetry is another aspect I like in a bass. Also shortscale.
Obviously I have other passions, like pets and family. So attached is a photo of my pet Chinchilla, Cappi.
She plays an integral part in my day to day life, so I figured I'd throw her in there.
I'll attach some photos of my basses in my next post

Also forgot to mention that flats are a must for me!

Here are my two basses:

First is my Hofner Icon. Heavily Modded.
-Painted Switches
-Teacup Knobs
-Faux Bound Headstock
-Painted Nut
-Modded TRC and Tailpeice
-Plastic strips in bridge
-Homemade thumbscrew mute system (I call it PermaMute)

Next, My Fender Mustang.
-Jazz Bass Covers Added
-Tugbar
-White Perloid Pickguard

Both of them play great, I realize that the Stang is a better more reliable instrument, but my heart is with the hofner.

Happy to have joined!

Ivan, what is that, a zero fret?

Hi, I would assume you're talking about the strip on the Hofner nut right?
I just painted stripes on the nut to make it resemble the german one more. I have considered putting a zero fret on it though.
The original nut was black, but I just made it appear White/Black/White by painting it.
My Hofner if modded beyond beleif, lol.
(I think I answered your question, if not, just say so.)

As I forgot to mention, I'm also slowly getting into custom builds, mainly refinning right now, but you never know in the future.
Here is a 12 string guitar my stepdad and I built from a kit, and also my self done refinished gold p-bass. (originally a squier affinity, blue).
