Hi I have been playing bass off and on since high school. I've played a lot of guitar, but learned to be more of an all around musician on the bass (reading notation, taking jazz lessons, understanding arpeggios, etc.) and think I've fallen into fewer ruts. I'm currently in a covers band, but have also played out in a prog rock band and a pop-oriented band in the Bay Area. I am pretty happy with my equipment: SWR 4x10 cab, LH1000 Hartke head, Warwick Thumb bolt-on and will be looking for a back-up 2x10 that can handle the Hartke wattage. I like the way bass players tend not to have big egos generally. I think of the difference in 'tone' between the guitar magazines and Bass Player magazine, for example--or now, how approachable people seem to be in the forums here in TB. Anyway, I'm glad to be part of this site, probably won't visit it too often (I have so little time to practice as it is!), but expect to make good use of the advice, when I do.
