Greetings from the Heartland. I guess I don't have much choice about posting here first, huh? 
Bass is my secondary instrument...sorry, guys, but trumpet is my first love, but most of my gigs are on bass and tuba. I'm a retired school band director and taught myself bass to play in the school pep band. That led to an entry level position in a 17 pce big band that accelerated my progress drastically (and made me realize just how far I had to go), that led to a position in a society dance band where I learned to read chords, and now I'm in a newly formed 50's-60's Rock 'n Roll cover band, which has pushed my playing even more forward. I found out I can play by ear pretty well.
I do love playing bass and wish to get better and better at it. I hang out at Trumpetherald quite a bit, but intend to spend more time in Basstalk. I'm sure I'll learn quite a bit from you guys.
