I'm a long time classical guitar player (intermediate level). I've always loved the classic basslines. A year ago I bought an Ovation Celebrity acoustic bass, and I started to practice.
Coming from the classical guitar I achieved some fluency fingering, but I made so unwanted fretting noises. Soon I realized I was doing it all wrong, fretting and not muting strings properly. I'm now starting to finger properly from the scratch, muting the other strings.
Besides, while the acoustic bass was great for practicing, not so much for recording. It didn't quit fit well in the mix, clashing with the guitar in the same range of frequencies. I sold it and I got a Sire Marcus Miller V5-4 J-bass, I'm very happy with. I got a Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro digital processor, despite the bad press is a good tool.
I'm trying to get that 70s retro tube sound from it, so I'm learning about tube preamps, EQ and compression.
I've learned a lot reading threads from this forum. I just wanted to say hi to all the bass lovers community.
