Why is a DI needed?
Thank you all. But if I understand correctly, if I have a bass amp or combo, do I need a DI?

As with the OP, it depends.so should i buy an amp or a DI and a smallish PA?
No.. other way around.. "Pre" is pre-EQ stage and post is post-EQ. If you want the "sound" you have coming out the speakers to be sent via the direct out, you need Post-EQ setting... otherwise you get the sound BEFORE the EQ - the default pre-amp tone.Cool! So Pre button would let.me control tone while Post wouldnt?
