Newbie recording question

Hi everybody. I want to be able to record my bass playing. I currently mainly play to music tracks so I'd like to hear my playing as well as the song and be able to blend the two. What I currently have are a Mac (and along with it GarageBand), an iRig interface (3.5mm plug) as well as the Amplitude Software plus some add on packs. Will this suffice or am I missing something essential/necessary for a smoother experience? Also I'm sure I won;t be able to hit 'play' and start playing at the same time. Is there something that does a 'count-in' or delays playing of the music track?

You have the basics of what you need. To record along to a music track, the basic workflow would be to create a new project in amplitude, or garageband or whatever, then load in your backing track.

Create a second track which is where you'll record your bass. You can shift the music track to the right a few seconds so there's some empty space.

For a count-in click, match up the project tempo to actual tempo of your song, then use the click track in the software for the count-in. You might need to fiddle with this a bit to get it to align properly. If the track wasn't recorded to a click, your click will wander over time, so you should be able to print just the count-in to 3rd audio track.
