Next song to do?

Sorry, if this is in the wrong forum, the newbie intro one said no questions?
Hi I'm new! Name is Richard Finn, from the Philly area. I've been playing about 2 years and I need a bit of help. I wanna know some songs to move onto based off what I can play and such. I'm really bad at remembering stuff in general so I'm looking at 5 min max. The songs I actually play are:
Holiday by Green Day
Sunshine of Your Love
The Trooper
Blitzkrieg Bop
Stand By Me By Ben E. King
Rainbow in the Dark by DIO

I'm a big Metal fan and a Punk bass fan. I always end up getting recommendations for stuff that seems way out of my league, or way too easy without any fills. My biggest weakness is fills, which is one of the reasons I don't know many songs. Like I pick up most Iron Maiden main lines easy (mind you i listened to them and only them for 3-4 years straight) but the fills/runs kill me. My favourite bass players are Geddy Lee, Steve Harris, and Duff McKagan.
(Also any help getting a good solid practice routine again is much appreciated!)

Don't know what to tell you.. Pick songs you like, and learn them. Listen over and over.
You tube has lots of isolated bass parts of songs you may like.
There are also learning devices(tascam makes one) that slow songs down, but doesn't change the pitch. That makes it easier to learn songs.

Well drummers and bass players go hand in hand. I know bassist/drummers that have played together for the past 30-35 years. So....drummers are you friends. Especially ones you "click" with.

It helps to play with all musicians.

I used to play in front of a mirror. It really helps when playing with other guitarist, to "read" their hands.
When playing alone, a simple drum machine helps keep a good meter.
I like to use a Ditto looper to simulate playing with others...it's a very cool, affordable pedal.

I make it sound easy....I've been playing bass since '68 or so...

And it would do no harm to check out the several/many 'walking bass' threads although they do tend to get pretty technical sometimes. But it's another answer to the question "How do I get from the chord I'm on to what's next?"

Get a good handle on the chord tones and you'll have a lot of material for fills.

Symphony of Destruction by Megadeth has a fairly easy bass line with some cool fills in it
Lot of Everclear songs have simple fills

You should check out She by Green Day too. That one is cool. I play that all the time.

Blink 182's got some cool songs

Alot of the early Cliff Burton Metallica stuff is good for working on fills too because its alot of open E string then a quick couple notes on A and D.

Another idea to help your ear - will help make runs easier. Just just play bass lines. Try to play along with some melodies on the songs. It'll make playing runs, and even solos, much easier.

Id check out some old Sabbath. Easy to hear the bass on those old recordings and he's an underrated legend

Since you already play Sunshine of Your Love: Badge is also a fairly simple and fun song to play. When I started playing, I learned a lot of early Allman Brothers and Zep (sorry guys).
