- I suck, but nobody really notices
So, I have yet another new failed bass day, except this time it's a Fender, and all parts fit fenders, so I now have the sickest 3 tone burst Standard Fender on the planet.
There's a lot of pictures. I'm telling the story too.
So, I bought a g&l tribute jb. It had neck problems, so I sent it back. I found a standard jazz used for a little less than the g&l. Looked good, so I bought it instead. Never buy used basses online from retailers that don't have adequate pictures. There are reasons for that. So without further Adu,
JayJeezy joins the family.
Action was a half inch off the neck, and tuners needed a wrench to turn (not really, but it was very bad)
I swapped the tuners with my old standards.
Cleaned up the 5 year funk off the fingerboard, and oiled it.
There was a pretty decent chip in the front back corner. I fixed that. I'll clear it tomorrow.
Popped the neck back on.
Threw away the tort. Replaced with new 3 ply black.
Now on to control plate.
Someone's been in here before.
All looks good though. But, since someone has already done this job for me, my black control plate doesn't fit these larger pots. So, I made it fit with battery powered elbow grease.
Back together.
Knobs for days!
Now, I strung it. And proceeded to completely loose my *$%& when I found out that this neck was completely warped and the truss rod was so maxed that I straight snapped it before making the neck move at all. Snapped. Truss rod gone. So, I then cursed, and yelled, and grabbed my Tele neck off my P bass. I then threw away the pos bridge that was on this thing, and grabbed the kickass bridge off my P bass.
P died, J lives. I think that finally answers the question of P versus J. Right?
I will never buy another used bass. Or, a cheap line one. I'm done. Now, I need to buy a new neck and bridge (at some point) and resurrect McNuggies. But for now, JayJeezy has been tagged in.
