It's a shame how the NFL rewards bad behavior. Gordon repeatedly is a bad citizen, and Cleveland shows some backbone. So he gets picked up by NE. Not the first time this has happened.

Some talking head was speaking about how the NBA changed the hands rule and made it all about dropping 3's and fans loved it, and how baseball has the home run era and fans love it and the same is what the NFL is doing. Following them. I remember when the NFL was about defense not offense. The real issue with the leagues is they've changed the game in such a way that the HOF for any of them is meaningless. For the NFL you would have to have 2 different halls, one for offense and one for defense so a definite line of demarcation can be made between real football and Goodell branded football.
I read that Tom got his 500th TD. I wasn't watching of course. I couldn't be bothered.
The Eagles have regressed, and key players are injured or banged up. I'm bullish on the Rams, Bears, and Chiefs this year. Despite all the talent, I don't see the Chiefs making a deep playoff run. That's all I got right now.
The problem is that players have just gotten too big and too fast. Ken Bowman, Lombardi's center, was 210 the first time they won the Super Bowl. Today you have players 150 pounds bigger, who probably could beat him in to 40. Unless you went back to no substitutions, if you don't change the game into a track meet, players are literally going to be killed out there. The NFL has already dealt with the concussions. Could you imagine today's players hitting like Tatum or Atkinson?
No one is saying the NFL doesn't look at the bottom line before it takes a sip of coffee in the morning, but it's just the truth. Either we take football the way it is now, or we say goodbye to football. The only other thing I could see is to eliminate all substitutions other than injury, but Tom Brady isn't playing safety, and we aren't going back to an offensive lineman kicking field goals (although, oddly, I think I would prefer that).I get that. Logically it makes perfect sense. It's just the implementation has been such that it allows for too much supposition as to the NFL's true interest. They want ratings. That has come at the cost of players forever. To think that now they are concerned is laughable. It brings ratings though ( negative press is still press after all ) so they double dip, and they do it with a wink and a smile.
My solution is eliminate free substitutions and eliminate pads and helmets. Neither will happen. The problem is that players have just gotten too big and too fast. Gotta feel for Mason Crosby. He's had a pretty decent career, but this one horrible game will follow him for quite a while. The tough thing is, those missed FGs (4) and XP (1) would have given Green Bay the victory. Here's hoping he'll bounce back just fine.
Casual Packers fan here. Rodgers' body language in the first half was like 'why am I here with a bunch of amateurs?' I'd rarely seen a QB who looked like he wanted be elsewhere like he did before halftime. Came back in the second half and racked up some impressive stats, though, but still no W.I don't know who you are, Green Bay Packers.
The Chiefs lack a solid defense, if they run into a team that can slow down that offense, they'll falter - a lot like my Saints right now.
