NGD!!! Christmas edition

front.jpg controlPanel.jpg New Gear Day!, and I use the term "new" advisedly.

1966 Vox Viscount 1151. Not real pretty on the outside but has inner beauty.
Even cranked up there's no buzzing or belching. 35 watts coming out of two 12" Vox Bulldog (made by Oxford) speakers. Three channels, NORMAL with a Top Boost switch, BRILLIANT channel with Mid Range Boost switch, and a BASS channel with Tone-X. It has a 4 button foot switch that switches distortion, reverb, mid range and tremolo, or as the store guy called it "tre-mellow". There's the normal pots for the reverb and tremolo on the back of the control panel.
There's no knobs for distortion, just the foot switch but you can vary it alot with the tone controls. The Mid Range on the pedal seems to add a lot more mid range than the toggle switch in the Brilliant channel.
It's hard to judge the size from the picture. It's quite a bit bigger and heavier than an AC30. It's the same amp as the Vox Buckingham without the piggyback head. I had my eye on a nice looking Buckingham but the store closed suddenly last month :(

“Brilliant” is so British. Love it.
Besides that channel being generally exceedingly pleasant, it also has quite a bit of high end to it, which may be a secondary reason the channel is named that.
I got wonderful clean tones with my Les Paul and the amp volume turned up to about 1.5. I love the mid range boost. Today I will line up the rest of my guitars for a go. I expect the Tele in particular will sound BRILLIANT!
