Nitro finish, Maple Board P Bass

I have some bad GAS for a nitro finished, maple fretboard, solid color P bass. I found a couple.

I know one is MIM, and one is MIA. The 57 comes with the ashtrays. But costs about $500 more. The other one has worn paint, that I would like to touch up, at least on the front, just so I don't come off like a poser.

I've heard nothing but great things about the Road Worns, but what about the 57? Do you think the cost justifies the difference, in other words is the USA made 57 really that much higher quality?

And who else digs a nitro, maple, solid color P?

Atkison basses got some great reviews around here, and you can get it in nitro. I think it's around $900.

You could also buy a loaded Highway one body and find a neck of your choice for it.

That's a good point. I might be able to find a Highway One body on Ebay.

Roadworn instruments have nitro body finishes, but poly on the neck. This will be a big factor in how the instrument will really age and change feel over time...

I tried some acetone on the neck of mine and it went straight through to bare wood? (was under a tuner so out of sight!)

Dunno about Nitro, but a black/black/maple P is pretty much the definition of awesome in my book.

American Vintage is my favorite Fender line and, IMO, worth the difference for the neck, hardware, finish, covers and pickup. There's a great CAR & maple on the bay right now that I'd buy if I was in the market for another bass.

Holy crap! I just went and checked it out. Instant GAS!

I think I'll have to find one used like that one. Buy it now price is only $50 more then the Road Worn! Damn.

I Have the 57 AV I got it used for 900$, shop around its easy to get one under 1000$. I dig or dug it, its officially sold but I have to wait to ship it as buyer is on vaction. There great basses but I dont think 1500$ is a fair price for one, there not that amazing to me.
